ROLE: CAD Designer
Project description:
This project involved transforming a conceptual 3D model of a Devision 2 watch, created in Blender, into a functional and manufacturable enclosure design for the open-source smartwatch hardware ZSWatch. The client sought to adapt a game-inspired concept into a real-world product, requiring innovative design solutions and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
•Adaptation of Game Concept to Reality: The provided 3D model had misaligned dimensions and lacked functional design for key components such as buttons. I reworked the design to align with the real-world hardware dimensions and created proper seating locations for buttons as separate, functional parts.
•Custom Flap Mechanism Design: Based on client input, I designed a specialized flap to cover the camera and microphone. This flap included a unique mechanical system allowing control via the same buttons used for the smartwatch interface.
•Manufacturing Consultation: The client requested CNC machining as the primary manufacturing method and received all the necessary advisory to ensure the design could be fabricated effectively.
Tools and Skills:
CAD Design: Fusion 360 was the primary tool for creating the enclosure and its intricate mechanical details.
3D Retopology: Blender was used for refining the original model before adapting it into a manufacturable design.
