Izobrulo Art HeartHug Permanent (concept)
Project proposal for the Canal Place Mall, New-Orleans
In response to inquiry from Art Council of New Orleans
The 5.7-meter (18.7 ft) high permanent version of the Izobrulo Polylight HeartHug is designed not only for visual pleasure but also as a landmark or point of attraction.
This sculpture features a distinct, one-of-a-kind shape that is intentionally asymmetrical.
This deliberate choice aims to create a uniquely recognizable image.
While standard, equally shaped hearts are common, an asymmetrical design adds a distinctive touch.
Thus, it is intended to resonate well as a unique piece connected both locally and globally to its site.
Everyone will know the exact location of this Izobrulo Art Heart.
You don't need to be extremely attentive to notice that the picture above features metal tubes, while the one below showcases plastic ones.
As we consider this piece permanent, we are compelled to employ different fabrication methods to ensure its reliability and sturdiness.
Despite the extensive use of polymers in our temporary art works fabrication, in this case, we intend to utilize other materials and technologies. The connectors are made of cast aluminum, while the tubes, according to our concept, should be metallic while maintaining a LED light characteristic.
This may involve implementing a special perforation pattern or a unique method of creating slots and cuts along each tube to preserve the metallic shine while maintaining the inherent glow feature.
